Sheilah O'Brien, Managing Principal
Sheilah founded Knowesis in late 2007. She exercises executive oversight for all aspects of the company including business development, service delivery, and day-to-day operations in keeping with the company’s “sell and deliver” philosophy. Her 25-year career in health analytics and data management has spanned direct clinical research (therapeutics and devices), clinical informatics, business decision support, performance measurement and enterprise reporting. Her client base has spanned multiple entities within the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Military Health System (MHS). She provided leadership to commercial engagements, specifically in the commercial pharmaceutical and biotech sectors (Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sanofi). As a U.S. Air Force veteran, Ms. O’Brien is the recipient of the Star Warfighter award. The Star Warfighter Award is awarded to government contractors that support the safety and well-being of individuals serving in the armed forces post-war and during deployment. Ms. O’Brien holds a Master of Public Administration and is a Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
Steve Flowers, Principal
Steve serves as the Chief Operating Officer. He has 35 years of healthcare experience that includes over 15 years of management consulting with large publicly traded companies with expertise in program management, continuous improvement, government contracting, systems thinking, analysis, data mining, knowledge management, decision support, and information technology. During his career, Mr. Flowers has managed $350M+ in Federal contracts. Mr. Flowers served as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner as well as an Air Force Quality Examiner. He had a distinguished military career as an Air Force Medical Service Corps officer with service in command positions as well as the staff of the Air Force Surgeon General. He was a key contributor to a military health project receiving then Vice President Gore's Golden Hammer Award. He also holds a Master Certificate in Government Contract Management and a Master Certificate – Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Six Sigma, both from Villanova University. Mr. Flowers has a Bachelor of Science in Public Health-Health Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Science in Systems and Management Air Force Institute of Technology (a distinguished graduate), and a Master of Science in Law from Champlain College.
John Broughton, Director of Business Development
With over 20 years of experience successfully securing government contracts, John leads Knowesis’ proposal management, capture, and business development activities. His focus is concentrated in the defense health, Military Health System (MHS) and VA markets, and he has worked in various industries of professional services, including data analytics, strategic communication, program management support, document lifecycle, technical support, IT managed services, service desk/contact center management, security services, and other business outsourcing performance-based contracts, including competitive and directed, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ), Government-Wide Acquisition Contracts (GWACs), and General Services Administration (GSA) schedule-based procurements. Mr. Broughton has developed and streamlined proposal processes, created proposal libraries, trained corporate staff, built the infrastructure necessary to support high-volume business development functions for three companies, and has served as the management representative for the ISO 9001 certification. Mr. Broughton served honorably in the U.S. Navy and performs community outreach for Veteran-related charities. He is actively working to complete his MBA degree from the University of Maryland, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from the University of Maryland, and is certified through the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP).

Indrani Seetharam, President & CEO
Indrani (Indu) has over 20 years of experience in Enterprise, Business, Application and Data Architecture, Business Process Reengineering, Vision and Strategy, Requirements Analysis, and Application Design and Development. She has expertise in several full life cycle methodologies such as the Enterprise Life Cycle, implemented at the IRS; Catalyst, implemented at CSC; and WSDDM, implemented at IBM. She is adept with frameworks such as Zachman, FEAF, and TEAF. Her communication skills have been proven at multiple government and industry leadership levels, further bolstered by a complete understanding of the business needs for customer organizations in today’s complex information technology environment. As the head of a small, disadvantaged business, she recognizes the need for simplicity and agility in the marketplace and has established a culture to perform. She holds a BS and MS in Speech and Hearing. She also has a MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins.
Seetharam Sampath, CFO
Seetharam has over 20 years of experience in Project Management, Business Consulting, Business Systems Architecture, Business Application Development and Financial Management. He has extensive experience in managing numerous system design/development and conversion activities on a wide range of applications including financial systems, production planning and inventory control, real estate management, equipment service tracking, and hospital information systems. He has provided Strategic Technology Visioning Road Maps and integration Strategy to achieve Client Business Goals, providing innovative business and financial management models. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, a MBA in Finance from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a MS in Computer Science from Villanova University, PA.
Sandeep Jain, Practice Leader—Systems Engineering & Software Development
Sandeep brings 32 years of strong combination of strategic management and tactical service delivery to ISI. He provides our clients subject matter expertise across a number of areas applying expertise in IT strategy, business process management, enterprise architecture, and service/solution delivery models (ITIL, CMMI) to deliver strong value propositions. Sandeep has led high performance teams for business transformation with advances in IT practices and technologies, and steered clients into high return on IT investments with increased automation, data and process consolidation, and introduction of Agile and DevOps processes. Prior to joining ISI, Sandeep managed IT delivery and programs in the Federal government and large corporations in the manufacturing, telecom, finance, and retail domains. At British Telecom Global Services, Sandeep received an award: “Excellence in Action” for taking the initiative to re-engineer the organization’s billing and settlement systems to perform over 10 times faster in less than a year. Sandeep has a Bachelor of Technology (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and numerous technical and management certifications.
